I have met with Jake a few times throughout this process, and although he was chosen as my mentor when my project idea was more in his scope using PID controls, Jake is still a valuable adviser in many ways.
After sitting down with Jake to examine my progress he felt as though I have everything under control. He was able to provide me some construction techniques to make life a little easier such as using a jig to assist in joinery when creating the casting mold. Jake also took a look at the specs for the LED strips to provide guidance in addressing the LEDs individually. This is an area where Jake is quite knowledgeable as he studied aerospace engineering as an undergrad before attending grad school as an electrical engineer.
As for the actual resin epoxy material, he hasn't worked with it previously but mentioned that everything looked great so far and was pleased with the direction the project is going. It has evolved with a more focused direction and the prototyping completed has provided me with some valuable feedback that should greatly improve the final project.
