The goal for this project was to simply create an item using a 3D printer. Of course, I didn't want to make just anything, rather an item that serves a purpose. After purchasing a small 95 gph water pump from the fish store, I measured and re-modeled the pump using Autodesk Fusion 360 software and designed a water fountain to wrap around the pump.
Using glow-in-the-dark PLA filament for printing, the water pump, and some polished stones, the water fountain came to life as a tranquil ambient device that can be placed on a desk, bathroom, or anywhere near a wall outlet. The device is whisper quiet, and thanks to the polished stones there isn't even any splashing effect from the cascading water.
